Each quarter, a teaching artist and an emerging artist from Hennepin County collaborate in an exhibition in the gallery.  Mentors for the first year include Ryan Stopera, Donald Thomas, Candida Gonzalez, and Leslie Barlow.  Graves hopes to engage intergenerational conversations and connections through the gallery opening event and 3 month installation for each artist, as well within the mentorship process.

The first quarter artist is Minneapolis-based artist, Ahnali Tran. She composes critical works based on her Southeast Asian American perspective through a mixed-race lens. She grew up in North Minneapolis, where she became immersed in racial and environmental activism.  Ahnali is currently a student at Perpich Center for Arts Education.

Join us for our first exhibition in The Creating Change Gallery in a virtual opening event on Friday May 8.  We will be hosting a tour of the gallery, with Ahnali sharing her work and experience with the initiative.  We will be sharing more events and opportunities to engage with Ahnali's exhibition on Facebook, Instagram, and our website.  Follow us for details.
