MELA Nominations are now open!
The Minneapolis Educator Leadership Awards (MELA) were created to recognize Title I Minneapolis Public Schools educators, principals, paraprofessionals, and support staff. Candidates for the award are nominated by their peers, students, parents, or anyone who admires their work as educators. Finalists are selected by a committee of teachers, administrators, and support staff actively working in MPS.
The award comes with the responsibility of completing a proposal with the Graves Foundation and Achieve Twin Cities for up to $10,000 in funding for a one- or two-year grant to improve the nominee’s school. The committee awards up to $75,000 in grants annually.
Nominations are open through January 12, 2026.

SNS Week of Action Against School Pushout 2025
Join Solutions Not Suspensions (SNS) for our WEEK OF ACTION Against School Pushout event! We are having a teach-in event to bring together community members and advocates for an open and informative conversation about the state school discipline in Minnesota. We will discuss the role of School Resource Officers, the overuse of suspensions, the continued use of seclusion. We will also share the ways that legislative and policy decisions shape these practices--Leading to the school-to-prison pipeline
